How to Stop Apps from Launching at Startup on Windows
If your computer is taking ages to start, one of the major culprits may be programs that launch in the background at startup. Thankfully, you can easily disable unnecessary startup apps via the Windows Settings menu. Here's how you can do it.
Steps to Stop Apps from Launching at Startup Using Windows Settings
1. Launch Windows Settings
You can open settings by pressing the Windows Key + I on your keyboard.
2. Go to Apps
Within Settings, locate the Apps and click to open them. This opens the settings for Apps, where one can make manipulations of preferences for applications.
3. Click on Startup
On the menu for Apps, there are several categories on the left. Locate Startup by scrolling down the list and click on it. This brings up a list of all the apps that have been enabled to start during booting of the computer.
4. Toggle Off Unnecessary Apps
Here, you'll see all the apps with a toggle switch next to it. Simply toggle off the apps that you don't want to open up automatically on startup. Windows also shows you an "Impact" that each app has on your computer's time of booting up, so you can disable High impact apps first.
5. Restart Your Computer and Let Changes Take Effect
After making the necessary adjustments, restart your computer to enjoy a faster boot.
