5 Gmail Tricks Everyone Should Know
Gmail is much more than just a base from which to send and receive emails; it is actually a powerful tool that can help streamline your digital life. Below are five must-know Gmail tricks, along with some ideas for useful screenshots that will help guide you through each one.
Ever hit send too quickly and wish you could reel the email back in? Gmail's "Undo Send" feature gives you a short grace period to recall emails. Go to Settings >> General and customize your "Undo Send" period from 5 to 30 seconds.
Need to send an email at a specific time? Gmail's scheduling feature lets you plan when your messages go out. After composing your email, click the downward arrow on the "Send" button and select "Schedule send."
Labels in Gmail are a bit like folders, but a bit more powerful. For one thing, a single email can have numerous labels on it for better organization. Create labels under "Labels" from the sidebar or start organizing emails by dragging them onto the label to the left.
Gmail has keyboard shortcuts. You have to enable them from your settings: just click on Settings-Advanced-Keyboard shortcuts and enable them. At that point, you can do such things as: hit "C" to compose, "E" to archive, etc.
Gmail's Smart Reply and Smart Compose, driven by AI, make writing emails speedier and more efficient. Smart Reply gives options of immediate responses, while Smart Compose predicts the phrases you will want to use as you start typing them, thus helping you with sentence completion. Of course, these should first of all be on under Settings > General for simple emailing.
